A new study suggests benzodiazepine which is widely used in anxiety and insomnia medications raises the risk of Alzheimer′s disease.
Researchers from France and Canada,… analyzing thousands of people over the age of 65 from Canada,… found that those who had used the drugs had a roughly 50 percent greater chance of getting Alzheimer′s than those that didn′t.
Although the study didn′t provide an exact cause,… the risk for dementia increased the longer people took the medications.
The researchers warned that such treatments should not be used for over three months.
