Using Artificial Intelligence To Detect Alzheimer’s Disease

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has gained popularity over the past couple of years for its ability to perform human-like tasks. This video explores AI’s use in the healthcare field, specifically for its ability to detect early on-set Alzheimer’s disease. This condition is a type of memory loss that is often diagnosed through analyzing MRI images, or recognizing symptoms, but through a study conducted by Pariwat Ongsulee, it is found that AI models can be created to detect Alzheimer’s disease. With this finding, it can revolutionize the way Alzheimer’s disease is diagnosed and lead to new treatments for the condition, and potentially open the door to detecting other diseases with AI.

This video was made by McMaster University students Mahek Marker, Sarah Gillies, Ali Zead, and Lokesha Muvva in collaboration with the Demystifying Medicine McMaster Program.
