Since the digital pledge portal was introduced in 2023, India has completed over five lakh Aadhar-verified organ donation pledges in just three years.
Organ transplants in India have increased to more than 20,000 per year over the last 12 years, according to Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel, who spoke at the 16th Indian Organ Donation Day event in New Delhi today.
The minister started a year-long Jug Jug Jiyo Campaign in honour of the event. The purpose of this nationwide campaign is to honour organ donors and their families.
