Hemsworth learned that he has two copies of the APOE4 gene (one from each of his parents). Inheriting an APOE4 allele does not ensure that a person will develop Alzheimer’s; it only increases the risk
The exact cause of Alzheimer´s disease is not known but genetics, lifestyle and environmental factors are believed to play a role.
