“Brilliant and practical session, thanks.”
Every two months we work together as an allied health professional’s community to develop, for you, a national AHP Dementia Webinar where we share the work and practice of allied health professionals in Scotland and our many partners. Our vision for the webinars is
“through working in partnership, we can all improve outcomes
for people that really matter”.
In our AHP Dementia webinar in September 2024, people joined the conversation to hear about the contribution AHP roles can make to improve brain health for people in Scotland at all ages. Our guest presenter was Karen MacKenzie – Speech and Language Therapist, NHS Western Isles.

We invited participants at the end of the webinar to share something they would take away from the webinar and use in their practice, or life, or going forward. Here is a selection of the replies.
- Speak about exercises also with brain health regardless.
- Continue to keep strategies and tips to maintain my brain health continuously and continue to share with others.
- The information shared can be shared with others in order to enhance understanding and awareness of various signs of cognitive deterioration.
- Brain Health Scotland Resource and reassurance that preventative advice is not complex
- Todays sessions has helped compound my belief that there are many opportunities for promoting brain health in our everyday lives, both professionally and personally
- I will look up Lifestyle Matters (connecting people/connecting support) www.cpcps.online
- Spread the news about brain health and brain health services
- A greater confidence in my own knowledge in talking about brain health
- Brain health Scotland resources and interesting ways to integrate Brain health education in my day to day work.
- Confidence in sharing brain health as part of my existing approach to therapy.
- That we do a lot within our day that contributes to brain health, and we don’t even notice/ think about it
