Как защитить свой мозг от болезни Альцгеймера?

If you’re over 50 and your memory isn’t failing you, don’t be too quick to rest. In 2018, a neurologist in Stockholm showed his colleagues a brain scan of a 52-year-old businessman who hadn’t had a single complaint: his brain was already covered in amyloid plaques. Alzheimer’s disease begins 15 to 25 years before the first symptom—quietly, imperceptibly, without any warning signs.

In this video:
1 — Why a good memory at 55 is not yet a protection against the disease
2 — How two culprits work: beta-amyloid and tau protein
3 — What is the glymphatic system and why the brain needs deep sleep
4 — The 5 stages of Alzheimer’s: what happens in each and what it looks like
5 — Which 45% of dementia cases are preventable and where to start today

Alzheimer’s disease and dementia after age 60 are among the main health threats to older adults. Early-stage Alzheimer’s symptoms often go unnoticed: a person may appear healthy until the disease has been damaging the brain for years. Dementia prevention is especially important after age 50, when there’s still time to intervene. In this video, a physician with 30 years of experience examines the signs of dementia in the elderly, explains the role of cognitive reserve and the glymphatic system of the brain, and discusses the link between sleep deprivation and Alzheimer’s disease.
